Ngai Tāmanuhiri 2035
Te mana o te iwi kei ōna uri.
Ngai Tāmanuhiri 2035 maps our tribal path beyond the next two decades. It represents the wishes of our people that emerged from many hui over a number of years.
To help articulate the future vision Trustees held a series of hui in 2011and 2012 at Muriwai, Auckland, Wellington and Palmerston North. A consultation document was circulated in December 2011. Cumulatively, the comments and feedback provided answers to a number of questions about the future that have shaped planning set out in this document.
Ngai Tāmanuhiri Claims Settlement Act brought about the full transfer of cash and assets from the Crown to our iwi, to compensate for historical breaches of the Treaty of Waitangi by the government. The redress we received is not a full replacement of all that we lost. But it does provide an economic base to springboard our iwi development for the years ahead.
